Check a Creative Resume PDF Before You Send It
A resume can look correct in an editor and break after export. Review the exact file you will send, because that is what the hiring team receives—not the working document on your screen.
Open the exported file in another viewer
Check that fonts render, accents and symbols remain intact, images are not blurry, and no content is clipped. Look at every page at normal size and zoom. A second viewer or device can expose substitutions that the authoring application did not show.
Check text and reading order
- Can you select and copy the text rather than seeing a flattened image?
- Does copied text appear in a sensible order across columns and sections?
- Are headings and dates still associated with the right roles?
- Can a screen reader or document outline identify the main sections where supported?
Test links and contact details
Click the portfolio, email, and other relevant links. Confirm each destination is current and does not expose a private draft or restricted client material. Check the visible address as well as the underlying link so a reader can understand where it leads.
Compare the document with the application
Confirm job titles, dates, location, and project descriptions agree with the application form and portfolio. Follow the employer’s requested format and file naming instructions. If the application requires a different format, provide it rather than insisting on a designed PDF.
Keep a clean version for each application
Save the final export with a clear file name and reopen that saved file before sending. Remove temporary comments, hidden pages, draft notes, and metadata you do not intend to share. Keep a copy of the submitted version so you can discuss the same evidence in an interview.
